Built in the high wing style, this twin turboprop aircraft was designed for ultra high efficiency from the start. Flexibility and comfort were also key design criteria and from this came the centrepiece of the ATR family, the ATR42. This aircraft entered service in 1985 with a seating capacity of 48. Depending on the cabin configuration this could be varied between 42 to 50 seats.
The ATR aircraft sources most of its bearing requirements from Europe from manufacturers such as Ampep, Rose, Frankenjura, Glacier, SKF and Timken UK.
